Did you know...
Having been observed for over 400 years it’s a well known fact that the sun goes through sun activity cycles that last on average 11 yrs. When I first started viewing the sun in April 2009 we were in the midst of a solar minimum, where months could go by without seeing any activity on the surface at all. Fortunately (as you can see by my images below) we finally appear to be coming out of the current minimum with increased activity almost every day. This minimum lasted slightly longer than usual and there was some concern we may be entering another “Maunder Minimum.
